Ride
into the pines and enjoy dinner cooked on a camp
stove while one of the area's talented minstrels
entertains you. Glide
gracefully on the Maggie Pond at the Village at
Breckenridge, or enjoy two Breckenridge Ice Rinks
one year-round indoor and the other outdoor.
Experience rushing through the snowy
woods on a sled pulled by a team of magnificent
sled dogs. Take
snowmobile on a guided trip to ghost towns and mining
sites for an up-close look at Breckenridge’s past.
Zip along the trails while experiencing the wonders
of winter. Breckenridge also sparkles in the summer.
Whether it's the dew on the leaves in the early
morning or the sun shining over the town at 9,600
feet, Breck shines through as a great place to visit
in the summer. With so much to do, its no wonder
that visitors return year after year to see what
exciting adventure awaits them next. When the railroad
arrived in Breckenridge,. South Park & Pacific Railroad
Company laid rail tracks over what is current day
Boreas Pass Road. Today, visitors can view original
narrow gauge rail cars, including a rotary snowplow,
a coal tender and two boxcars, at the Denver, Leadville
& Gunnison Railway
Park located at 189 Boreas Pass Road. Daily excursions
provide a glimpse of our mining days and rowdy beginnings,
the genteel Victorian influence that tamed the town
(slightly) and the flora and fauna that roamed these
hills for centuries before white settlers arrived.
Spend
time in the Edwin Carter Natural History Museum
and visit other historical buildings with a guide
from the Summit Historical Society or take the self-guided
walking tour with maps available at the Activity
Centers.

of major riverbank and riverbed fishing
as well as thousands of miles of streams,
10 major reservoirs, countless glacial
lakes and absolutely breathtaking scenery
all within an hour's drive of Breckenridge
-- some of it right here, in fact! --
fly and lure fishermen can wet their
lines about any time of the year. The
rivers range from freestone to great
pocket water, and at least half of the
fishing is Gold Medal, including wild
trout streams that are not stocked.
