We
welcome beach visitors by providing
ample beach side parking areas and beach
side parks. Whether it's swimming, surfing,
surf casting, wading or just laying
on the beach, our world famous beach
has an activity for everyone. Is Golf
or Tennis your thing? - The City owns
and operates the Cocoa Beach Country
Club (open to the public) which offers
an activity for most everyone: For the
linkster - a challenging 27 hole golf
course located on the river's edge.
For the net-minded - play tennis day
or night on our 6 lighted tennis courts.
Just want to swim laps? Take a plunge
in the Olympic size (50 meter) swimming
pool. Need to catch your dinner? - Our
area offers tremendous fishing - fish
the Atlantic Ocean from the beach, pier,
jetties or local charter boats. Or fish
the Indian and Banana rivers from your
boat. No matter where you throw your
line, our fishing areas offer great
"catchability". Parks are plentiful
in Cocoa Beach, the city known as the
"Friendly Frontier of Space, Recreation,
and Quality Living." Residents and visitors
can always find the right spot for leisure
activities. The Cocoa Beach Recreation
Complex, located at the west end of
Minutemen Causeway, is a 212-acre community
park featuring a 27-hole championship
golf course. The complex also includes
an Olympic-sized swimming poll, 10 lighted
tennis courts, and a team sports complex
featuring baseball, softball, and soccer
fields. The golf course and racquet
club provide full-service pro shops.
Golf, tennis, and swim lessons are also
offered. A community center, pavilion,
and a new golf pro shop/restaurant are
also part of the complex. Tha Alan Shepard
Park is a two-acre, ocean-front park
providing picnic, shower, and restroom
facilities for guests. The park was
named after astronaut Alan Shepard and
provides an excellent view of space
launches. Facilities include 10 large
picnic pavilions, several smaller covered
picnic tables, barbecue grills, and
a bathhouse. In addition to the 12 designated
recreation sites, the city also provides
forty "stub-end" streets for access
to the Atlantic Ocean.

Each street has a dune to cross-over,
several metered parking spaces, and
a litter barrel. Each year in Cocoa
Beach we have our share of special recreation
events. These events include two surfing
festivals (on Easter and Labor Day weekends),
the Missileland Invitational Swim Meet,
the Paddle Battle Canoe Race, and the
Spring into Summer and Fall into Winter
5K runs. Come visit us !
