Welcome
to Molokai, The Most Hawaiian Island.
Often called "The Friendly Island" because
the aloha spirit flourishes here. If you're
looking for the real Hawai'i, this is
it. If you're looking for old Hawai'i,
this is it. If you're looking for breathtaking
natural beauty, rain forests or deserted
beaches, this is it. If you're looking
for glitz and glamour, you'll need to
look elsewhere.

This
is an honest look at an island lost in time. An
island where no building is taller than a palm
tree. Where aloha is not just a word, it's a way
of life. Where the longest white sand beach in
Hawai'i will probably have only your foot prints
on it. An island where there is so little automobile
traffic, there's not a single traffic light. There's
no mall, no elevators and no neon. No burger wars
here. Shopping is done in small, friendly businesses
in Kaunakakai, the largest town, and in the villages
of Kualapu'u and Maunaloa.Life here is slow and
relaxed. It's rural and peaceful. It's like stepping
back in time 50 years. It's a place like no other.
Molokai weather is wonderful year round, with
temperatures averaging about 75°F and rarely going
6 or 7 degrees above or below.. In winter (Dec.
thru Mar.), the night time temeratures may drop
to the lower 60s and you're more likely to experience
a rainy day. No Rain - No Rainbows! Spring, summer
and fall are all very similar with warm days (up
to 85°F) cooled by the trade winds and pleasant
evenings in the mid to lower 70s. If you're active,
you can ride one of the sure-footed mules down
the spectacular Kalaupapa sea cliff trail, take
a sport fishing boat out to catch your dinner
or sail to Lanai for the day to snorkel and laze
around on deck. Scuba dive the pristine waters
of Hawaii's only barrier reef, play 18 holes on
one of Hawaii's five best golf courses, or maybe
a fast nine on the local municipal course.
If
you are more the relaxed kind, grab some shade
under a palm tree and dive into that new novel
you've been wanting to read.

Take some sun screen and a towel to an empty
beach and soak up some rays. While you're
in the neighborhood, don't miss the spectacular
view of Kalaupapa from the lookout. Visit
a tropical flower farm, a macadamia nut
farm or a coffee plantation. If it's December-April,
find a quiet shoreline spot and watch for
humpback whales. Watch a halau practice
hula. Wander around the Kaunakakai shops.
If you look around carefully, you can always
find some amazing things to do in Molokai
. Or just relax and ... take a nap.
