Vancouver
is blessed with many beaches, most
suitable for swimming, although the
water can be a little chilly at some
of them. The later in the season,
the warmer the water. White Rock and
Pt. Roberts/Tsawwassen beaches are
usually warmer . They can sometimes
be as high as 28 C or about 82 F.

One
of the big days on Vancouver beaches
is Jan 1st, New Years Day, when the
annual Polar Bear swim attracts several
hundred die hard individuals out to
prove that Vancouver is a year round
swimming destination. Vancouver has
a large selection of Theatres & Clubs.
It also has one of the best selections
of restaurants in North America. The
city is a regular stop on most Rock
& Country Concert tours, boasts a
world class Symphony Orchestra, an
International Jazz Festival, an annual
Folk Festival and an active Opera
Society. If gambling is your thing
you will find casinos have sprung
up in various locations around the
city. There is the Great Canadian
Casino at 1133 W Hastings near Bute
and at 709 West Broadway near Cambie.
One of the most enjoyable activities
when visiting a different city or
country is sampling the local cuisine.
Canada does not have a "national"
cuisine as such but in Vancouver you
will find restaurants representing
nearly every cultural culinary experience
